Practical Classes

"...and this is when you decide to perform a surgery..." Professor Sathyaprakash continued his lecture on symptoms and analysis playing with a incisor on a dead body. It had taken close to 2 hours and the entire class was dead mostly due to the atmosphere of the room. It was the first period for the day which started around 7am and by now their hunger was killed ruthlessly. They all sighed in silence looking at the dead body in jealousy as the professor went on speaking in detail about surgery. It looked like an eternity.

Anantha yawned in silence,she would feel better if she could stretch her arms but had no choice as that's not something that could be done in silence. Ashit pulled her bag asking her for breakfast box which irritated her, not because he asked for breakfast but it was too much of work for her to take out the box as she was feeling too lazy to do that. " How can you eat in a place like this?" Anantha whispered to Ashit to which he said " why not? these kind of places are safe,people won't ask to share" he winked at her as he completed.

As the two continued to disagree,they noticed Nakul stuck to the window. They looked in the same direction as he did to find out what captured his attention. All they could see was a group of people waiting for the medical check up or report etc. After trying to figure out for couple of minutes in vain,they decided to ask him about his great involvement. " Nakku, there's this Great China Wall in between which is blocking Anu's and My vision and therefore we are not able to see what you are able to. So will you please throw light on it?" Ashit initiated the talk by grabbing him by his arms to bring him back to the class. Nakul expressed his disapproval for interference and grabbed them by their neck and pulled one each on either sides and said " Look closely in the same direction,do you see what I see now?". Ashit pushed his glasses in place trying to see what Nakul could.

By now Anu knew what was Nakul looking at,she pushed Nakul to free herself from him and sat down on the floor smiling pulling Ashit and Nakul. There were some 30 students in the room and these 3 were standing at the back.No one would even notice them if they sat down. Ashit asked Anantha " What did u see?" ,she looked at Nakul and smiled " Nakku is full fida on that girl sitting on the front desk ,did you get to see her face?". Ashit looked disappointed " Is that all? is that why you were looking lost? a girl?...ohhh,nothing interesting is it?" Ashit didn't even bother to stand up to look back into the window to find out which girl was Anu talking about,instead he pulled Anu's bag to get breakfast box out. Nakul pushed him and said " you are a shit man...truly " stood back and started looking out of the window again. " Sheeee,that's not that you should say when someone is having food" Ashit opened the box as he muttered.

Anu took the box away from him and said "let the class dismiss and I will give it to you once we get out of here ,i wonder how can you eat when it smells like this".All of them were waiting for the class to get over and they all had their reasons for it. Nakul could not wait to talk to the girl and Ashit was too hungry as the most of them in the class. Anu wanted to reach ladies' room at rocket speed. Finally,it was a happy hour for all of them. Professor Sathyaprakash completed his lecture and let go of his students unwillingly and nobody knew what he asked them to do at the end of the class as they all hurried their way out once professor exited out. Anu ran like an Ostrich followed by Ashit who at any cost didn't want to miss the breakfast.

Nakul also did the same thing,he wanted to get to the pretty lady of whom he got a glimpse while he was inside the class.To get there ,he had to run down and go to the next block. On his way there, he was recollecting her pretty face which was the only thing he could see. A pair of beautiful dark eyes,neatly trimmed eye browse,traditional look,smiling face,hair that had fallen on her forehead ,her ear drops that moved every time she laughed and spoke to someone sitting next to her. She looked very beautiful to him,he just wanted to speak to her. As he had his apron on and stethoscope in hand he could anyway make up an excuse to talk to her.He could ask her for the reason for her being there or offer help. Nakul was excited and by the time he reached the block he had even rehearsed the dialogues.

Now that he reached there and was panting,he tried to control his anxiety by breathing deeply in and out as learnt in the psychology classes.Damn! it didn't help. With that he even cursed Ms. Kannika Komarla who was his psychology lecturer. He said to himself " That's why ,psychology lecture should have been a man,a woman wouldn't have experienced all these."As he was getting closer to where she was sitting his anxiety level was increasing like Cholesterol level. He didn't want to look straight in that direction therefore he waited until he got really close. Once he was almost there,he thought of talking to the woman who was sitting next to her as he thought that's more appropriate. Trying not to look at her, he spoke to the woman, " I'm Dr. Nakul. Do you need any help? Looks like you are sitting here since quite long?" .

She replied " No doctor, we are fine. My daughter is supposed to undergo urine test,she has been drinking water as advised by the lady doctor so we are waiting. She's 6 months pregnant you see. Thank you for che cking with us anyway ". Nakul slowly looked at the lady next to her ,and this time though she smiled sweetly at Nakul ,he didn't look at her face but looked at her to confirm what that woman said was true and turned himself away trying to smile at them gently. Once he was away from them he could see Anantha and Ashit looking at him in sympathy. They ran after Nakul rolling on the corridors once they got away from the place !!!!!!
